FSIS Compentency and Qualification Needs
Fuel Systems installation and service – Compentency and qualification needs
An objective of PICA Australia is to develop the skills and training of those employed in our industry and to establish appropriate levels of competence.
In 2008 we approached the Manufacturing Skills Council of Australia (MSA) for assistance to develop a formal response to the competency development and recognition needs in the fuel system installation and service sector.
The MSA agreed to fund a project to examine the competency needs of workers in this sector, and develop an appropriate skills framework based on nationally endorsed units of competency which could form the basis for targeted relevant training, assessment and recognition of competency.
A number of meetings have been held throughout Australia with PICA members and this has provided some scope to the project and the relevant skills that could form the basis for the recognition of a qualification.
The Draft Progress Report for this project can be viewed in the attached. Further meetings are being scheduled and we seek comments and participation in the consultation from PICA members and other contractors in our sector.
