PICA began when a group of contractors in Melbourne got together and decided that they should form an association tailored to their particular needs. From this general discussion among themselves, they contacted more contractors, culminating in an inaugural meeting on Tuesday 22nd April 1986, with 18 people in attendance.

Since then, our membership has increased from 18 people to over 200. We are now in the five mainland States of Australia: New South Wales (Sydney); Queensland (Brisbane); Western Australia (Perth); and South Australia (Adelaide). The island State of Tasmania is represented through it's closest neighbor, Victoria. Members consist of contractors, equipment supplier/contractors, manufacturers and oil companies. See directory for current representatives.
